Odyssey has successfully designed a flood alleviation scheme, completed a business case and secured Flood Defence Grant in Aid (FDGiA) funding under the Environment Agency’s Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCERM), for a project in Hampstead Norreys, West Berkshire.

The village has a history of flooding from both groundwater and fluvial flood waters from the River Pang. During the winter of 2013-14, several properties were flooded, and the flooding also led to road closures in the village. Our proposed scheme once completed will divert flood flows away from the village before being discharged safely back into the River Pang downstream.

The project showcased the collaborative and partnership funding from the Environment Agency, West Berkshire Council and the local parish council; together with our flood modelling expertise to result in the approval of our proposals and ultimately the benefit of the village.
